Which one fits the way you listen?
Start with where you listen. If active noise cancellation is essential for your wireless commute, the Q20i meets that requirement and the 720BT does not. If you mostly listen at home in a quiet room, paying for ANC may add little. Compare the actual prices once you have made that distinction.
For flights, check how you will connect
Our previous recommendation favored the 720BT for flights on battery and weight alone. That overlooked the reason many travelers want ANC. Q20i offers it over Bluetooth, but Soundcore says AUX mode disables ANC. Phone playback over Bluetooth and a seat-screen cable are different use cases. If wired audio plus ANC is essential, neither recommendation here settles your purchase.
Longer battery does not automatically mean better everyday use
JBL advertises up to 76 hours; Soundcore lists 60 without ANC or 40 with it. These are manufacturer claims, with no matched test here. Work out whether either would need charging during your normal week. If both cover it, focus on price and fit rather than assigning a winner to the larger number.
Keep sound and comfort separate from the feature checklist
Both offer app EQ and two-device connections. Those shared features mean you need not choose JBL just to switch between a laptop and phone. We removed unsupported claims that its Bluetooth version guarantees better airport reception or that a lighter frame guarantees all-day comfort. For calls, glasses fit or sound preferences, this comparison leaves a real evidence gap.

Who Should Buy Which
Anker Soundcore Q20i
Q20i is the only one of these two with active noise cancellation. That makes it the relevant choice if ANC is a requirement, although we cannot quantify how much it will reduce your particular noise.
JBL Tune 720BT
Consider the Tune 720BT when you do not need ANC. Its advertised 76-hour maximum is longer than Q20i’s ANC-off claim. Compare the sale prices; a longer battery is useful only if it solves a charging problem you have.

Does the JBL Tune 720BT have noise cancellation?
It has no active noise cancellation. Its earcups provide a physical barrier, but that is different from electronic ANC. If you want to compare two ANC models, use our Tune 770NC vs Q20i comparison.
Can I use Q20i ANC with an airplane seat cable?
No. Soundcore’s support FAQ says noise cancellation is unavailable in AUX mode. For an airplane entertainment system connected by cable, this is a material limitation; do not buy it expecting wired audio and ANC together.
Which sounds better or is more comfortable?
We have not established a winner for sound, fit or microphone quality. Driver size, Bluetooth version and weight cannot settle those questions. A returnable purchase is useful if you cannot try them first.

- For wired listening, check the connection you need. Soundcore explicitly disables Q20i ANC in AUX mode; its supplied AUX cable has no microphone.
