When is the iO 5 worth paying more for?
Start with the price gap you would accept for a feature you will use. There is no universal amount that makes the upgrade worthwhile: a buyer who checks coverage after each session values that feature differently from someone who keeps their phone outside the bathroom. Our recommendation is to compare equivalent bundles, then pay for the extra guidance only if you expect to use it.
What the extra money buys
The iO 5 product listing specifies app position detection, illuminated mode selection and an additional Intense Clean mode. The iO 4 listing specifies four modes and Bluetooth habit reports. Visible mode selection may be useful even if app guidance is not your priority. A higher mode count alone does not establish better cleaning results.
What you already get with the iO 4
Both have a timer and pressure feedback. The iO 4 also signals when pressure is too light; that is not an iO 5 exclusive. Oral-B explains the three pressure states here.
